Kathy Byrne

I wish I could say that I have a degree in Fine Art or I’ve been painting since I was a little girl, but neither would be true. But my Danish mom and dad surrounded me with art and design from birth and I’ve always spent time creating in one way or another. When my children came along, I was working as a producer and director. I retired and spent my time playing tennis, skiing, cycling, walking with my wonderful husband and dog, and yes, dabbling in paint.

And then it happened.

Actually two things happened.

First: The pandemic hit. And someone saw a portrait I’d done of my dog. They asked me to paint their dog. And you know – someone told someone, who told someone, who told... I've painted over 30 dog portraits.

Second: I injured my back and leg. So art saved my life. Sport is out, (hopefully not forever) and I'm making art. The silver lining after a pretty serious injury. My studio is filling up.

I hope you feel some of the happiness and energy making art has given me.
